The Sacramento County Planning and Environmental Review (PER) – Long Range Planning team is dedicated to projects that will guide how the unincorporated County will develop in the future through strategic foresight and proactive management. Our team works to ensure that our community's plans and policies are not only compliant with current regulations but also forward-thinking and adaptable to future challenges.
Key initiatives and activities for the Long Range Planning team include:
- Implementing and maintaining the General Plan,
- Implementing the Climate Action Plan (CAP),
- Pursuing grant opportunities to fund critical projects and initiatives,
- Tracking and analyzing legislation to stay ahead of regulatory changes that could impact our planning efforts,
- Coordinating with the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) on Metropolitan Transportation Plans (MTPs) and Sustainable Communities Strategies (SCS),
- Implementing and periodically updating the Housing Element, which address our community's housing needs,
- Meeting obligations related to the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA), and
- Updating the Affordable Housing Ordinance to align with evolving requirements and ensure equitable housing for all residents.
